The Curse of Bhangarh Fort: India's Most Haunted Place
Bhangarh Fort, located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, is widely known as the most haunted location in India. Built in the 17th century by Raja Madho Singh, the fort is now a collection of ruins that carry a dark and chilling reputation.
The Legend of the Black Magician
The most famous story behind the haunting involves a black magician named Sinhai. According to legend, he fell in love with the beautiful Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh. To win her heart, he tried to use a love potion on her. However, the princess saw through his trick and threw the potion onto a large boulder, which then crushed the magician.
Before dying, Sinhai cursed the entire fort, stating that everyone living there would die and their souls would remain trapped forever without rebirth. Shortly after, a war broke out, and the city was destroyed, leaving it abandoned and haunted.
The Warning from the Government
The reputation of Bhangarh is so strong that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has placed a legal warning board at the entrance. It strictly prohibits anyone from entering the fort premises after sunset and before sunrise. Locals claim that anyone who stays inside the fort at night never returns.
What Visitors Experience
People who visit during the day often report a heavy feeling in the air. Many claim to hear the sounds of music, dancing, and distant screaming coming from the ruins. Whether it is a curse or just a legend, Bhangarh Fort remains a place of deep mystery and fear.
